Timothy Wroth
Back to Basics;;Name: Timothy Geheniel Wroth, born Geheniel Ephraim Rosenwald
Nickname/Alias: Tim (used by his family), Wroth (used by everyone else)
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Birthday and Place: July 2nd, St. Mungos
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Languages Spoken: English
Hobbies: Wizard chess and experimenting with the mind arts, such as legilimency and occlumency
Strengths: Calm, ambitious, cunning, determined, pragmatic, has relatively strong morals for a Slytherin
Weaknesses: Very strongly opinionated, not easily swayed in his convictions, stubborn, selfish, self-centered, sparing with his humor, manipulative, major trust issuesThe Physical;;Height: 6' 2"
Weight: 140 lbs
Figure/Build: Surprisingly tall (his height doesn't quite match his features), bit on the thin side but completely untoned (zero muscle)
Appearance: Long, fluffy blonde hair (total tow-head) that curls at the ends (it's full of secrets), round face, snub nose, dark blue eyes that appear black or brown at a distance, peach skin. Overall, uncomfortably and misleadingly angelic.
Health Status: Attachment disorder as a result of his unconventional childhood has manifested in the form of manipulative, passive-aggressive behavior, an aversion to touch and physical affection, control issues and anger problems (both of an internal kind, though occlumency has helped him to overcome them), difficulty showing genuine care and affection, and an underdeveloped conscience (When it comes to everyday interactions. He's unlikely to do something cruel, but if he does, he wouldn't exactly lose sleep over it.)
Voice/Speech: Deep, soothing voice that rarely holds any dramatic inflection. Has a faint Australian accent.
Typical Clothing: If he's not wearing his school robes, he's wearing Muggle clothes. He thinks they're more comfortable, and the other Slytherins put up with it because he's "useful" and would reveal their deepest, darkest secrets if they challenged his choice of apparel. He can usually be found wearing an olive brown jacket, ratty oxfords, and a polo shirt. The Mental;;Personality: Despite being calm and relatively even-keeled (On the outside. On the inside he's a sad, neurotic, angry little man), Wroth kindles a gentle burning charisma that has earned him many allies. He is polite and tactful, as Slytherins are expected to be, and although he knows everything about everyone, he would never distribute such information on a whim. He has his own set of ethics that keep him from sharing what he knows just for shits and giggles. He will only do so if he or his community is likely to benefit. Ironically, Wroth has a major problem with people keeping secrets, lying, or omitting truth. He studies the mind arts to circumvent this. One may wonder why he was sorted into Slytherin in the first place. The answer is this: Although, on a superficial level, his goal is to reform the Ministry into a transparent, less corrupt government and to reveal its dirtiest secrets to the public, there will always be a part of him that hungers for personal power and recognition. He wants people to talk about him. He craves the limelight.
Wroth is very different around his friends than he is in public. He is quirky and has a surprisingly perverted sense of humor, and is frequently the first one to point out unintended innuendos. Even though he seems to grow a sense of humor in private, it is still difficult to tell when he is being funny and when he is being serious.
Likes: Knowing people's secrets, the mind arts, psychology
Dislikes: Authority, secrets, lies, the Ministry
Phobias: Fire, Betrayal (which is why he refuses to give anyone his implicit trust or loyalty)
Religion: Doesn't really care. Would call himself whatever he thinks the person asking would prefer.
Goals: To work as an Unspeakable in the Thought Chamber, to reveal the secrets of the Ministry and help create a transparent government
Desires: To be the center of attention, to be in a position of power, to always have the upper hand
Secrets: Even though Wroth knows everything about everybody else, nobody knows anything about Wroth. His backstory is unknown, even by his "friends." According to him, it is "irrelevant."
Reactions/Expressions: Usually either deadpan or wearing a benign/gentle smile
It didn't originally take a lot to ruffle his feathers, but thanks to occlumency, he has gotten a lot better at controlling his anger. It's now borderline impossible to get him pissed, and if you do, you would hardly notice it. It would take a lot to get him to lose control of his mental shields, but if he should, evacuate the area.
The Magical;;Blood Status: Pure-blood
Wand: Silver lime, unicorn hair, 13 ½", slightly yielding
Patronus: Coyote
Animagus: Coyote
Familiar: None
Hogwarts House: Slytherin
Best Core Classes: Potions and History of Magic
Worst Core Class: DADA
Electives: Muggle-studies and Arithmancy
Extra-Curriculars: Wizard Chess Club
Boggart: Flames (maybe a huge bonfire)Relationships;;Parents: Anja Mortensen (mother), Samuel Wroth (adoptive father), Gavriel Rosenwald (biological father)
Siblings: Lucas Mortensen (younger brother by eight years)
Friends: Despite not sharing any of their goals, Wroth hangs around the nastier Slytherins, who value him for his extensive knowledge of people. Wroth, in turn, values the power that these Slytherins provide.
Enemies: To be determined Background;;Past Lovers/Friends/Enemies: N/A
Backstory: Tim was born in St. Mungos to Anja Mortensen, an Arithmancer, and Gavriel Rosenwald, an Auror, who ended their marriage a year later. Anja moved with her son to Wizarding Australia, where she roomed with and eventually married a colleague, Samuel Wroth. Tim attended Muggle primary school until the age of eight, when his parents divorced after Anja participated in an affair with Jack Eastlund, an Australian Auror, that resulted in a pregnancy. Rather than deal with the vicious custody struggles for both children that were bound to ensue, Anja took Tim and his newborn brother into hiding. For the next two years, they moved from city to city in the Muggle world. When Tim turned eleven, his mother sent him to live with his grandmother in England, where, for the next six years, he attended Hogwarts.
Author Notes:
Kind of hoping Tim can be a part of the bad Slytherin clique, but that he eventually allies with the main gang (Along with Amanda? I think she needs a friend in Slytherin that she can kind of trust/confide in. Like, an older student who can sympathize and take her under his wing. Or not.). He's not a bad person, he just hangs with the wrong people...and was sorted into the house least likely to actively fight against the Ministry. Also, because he's so much older than the others and will be out of school soon, it would given us the opportunity to have a mole in the Ministry.
But if nobody likes that idea, then I'm also totally cool with making him a total bastard whose in it for himself. I can see it going either way. Tell me what you think.
ANYWAY I was feeling a bit limited with only Joseph. Might make a Hufflepuff later. Or a Ravenclaw. Or both.

Ah, so I was thinking Maeve could be a sixth or seventh year. If I make her a seventh year, she and Tim could be in the same year. Nice. And does anyone else notice how alike him and Joseph are? I like it.

Seriously, Kirsten, this is my favorite OC of yours. This bio is amazingly well-developed and Tim seems like a really cool character. I wonder what role he'll play in the insurrection against the Ministry.

Ooh, he is actually good at History of Magic and he elects to take Muggle Studies. Damn boy. And, I think he may have a Zuko Complex from that author's note of yours. Bad turned good, kind of. Me like.

MAYBE HE SEEMS LIKE JOSEPH BECAUSE I MADE HIM NOT KIRSTEN.
But thank you.
And I actually tried to make him Joseph's foil in a way. If Joseph is fire, bright and chaotic and inherently destructive, then Tim is water, steady and calm but capable of violence and turbulence only if the conditions are right. And while Joseph subverts the stereotypical Gryffindor with his cunning and ruthlessness, Tim subverts the Slytherin Archetype with his hunger for justice and truth.
Man I love Slythindors. And boys who burn as they tread that thin line between the ideology they believe in so fanatically and their dark, consuming, utterly human nature that will never be compatible with that ideology.

I guess I subconsciously kind of went for a Tom Riddle Harry Potter dynamic, in the way that Tim is how I picture Joseph turning out if he had been sorted into Slytherin--forced to learn to conceal his passion. And likewise, Jo is how I think Tim would have turned out in Gryffindor--unrestrained and feral and without any idea how to navigate social circles.

Ooohhh epiphany. Tim and Jo are similar in that they are both 'false messiahs.' Imposter gods.
Tim comes across as kind and gentle and rational, someone who wants to show the world the truth, when in reality he is unstable and selfish and dysfunctional, and has plenty secrets of his own.
Jo is passionate and idealistic and so very determined, but these traits are twisted and warped. Jo will become ruthless and depraved and a living, breathing storm of fire and violence, walking the warpath to the heavens. Prepared to drag the only friends he's ever had into war to keep him merry company down the primrose path to revolutionary hell.
Leydenfrost also conforms to this pattern. He is so obsessed with his goal that he loses track of who the goal was supposed to benefit in the first place--the people. He becomes so completely consumed in his vendetta against the Ministry that the cause loses its initial value and begins to crumble around the principles upon which it was built.

In my defense, I woke up near the time I posted that. I was sort of half-asleep. Yeah. Sorry about that slip-up. And I got the same sort of feeling from the two. That dynamic that Tom and Harry had (although there were less similarities despite what the fans say).
Also, now that I read the bio again -in my more alert state- I see that he and Maeve, regardless of year, could never be friends. I intend for Maeve to be the petty, sort of Pansy Parkinson character at first who later begins to care about 'the cause'. At least initially, it would be strange.
With Valen, funnily enough, it's the opposite. His intellect matches Joseph's, yet the difference is Joseph has a practical agenda, whereas Valen is -how should I say- Hermione Granger 1-4 year. Complete bookworm with hardly any practical application of magic. In addition, Joseph claims to be one way and is, in actuality, another. Valen, though he harbors some secrets as do all teenagers, is fairly obvious. I suppose you could say he is a bit naïve. And since I am in the process of making proper bios for Maeve and Saiorse, do you guys have any hopes for these characters? Is there anything you'd like to see?

Hmm...I think it would be cool if Saiorse was a prankster. We don't have any of those yet. XD And Maeve could be like, perpetually embarrassed by her.
And I like the idea of Maeve being Pansy-ish.
Ooohhh, and I'm willing to propose a Maeve/Tim rivalry. Like, within the circle of Slytherins, they're the two head honchos who are constantly vying for power. The Slytherin Price and Princess. Except they're fundamentally different in that Maeve represents the cultural side of Slytherin (the high society, prejudiced Purebloods) and Tim represents the basic ideas on which Slytherin was built (cunning and ambition--the way he sees it, embracing Muggle culture is the strategic and 'cunning' thing to do, considering wizards make up like .0001% of the world's population). And they could always be arguing, but in a very Slytherin-esque way--as in, hiding the insults behind pretty words.
Or not.

OH OH OH.
Tim could totally take Amanda under his wing, and when he does, Maeve is all like "Tim wtf don't you know that's a half-blood ew get it away." And this whole divide could form in the Slytherin house over it. And Amanda gets involved to the point where Tim is sending her out to do his dirty work against Maeve, and that could be the bad shit that Amanda gets involved in. She gets hurt and that's when the Slytherin gang and the main gang clash.
Or, alternatively, Tim takes Amanda under his wing and there is no divide but Maeve and the other Slytherins start noticing her and treating her poorly, and to get in their good graces Amanda does all this bad shit for Maeve behind Tim's back.
SLYTHERIN HOUSE DRAMA POLITICS OMG.

OH.
Saiorse could be constantly trying to get Joseph to 'lighten up'. She could be a Gryffindor that fits the stereotype completely. Including Quidditch (much to Valen's disapproval). Huh. I realized that both Maeve and Saiorse are completely different kind of characters than what I usually write. I think it'll be...refreshing.
AND OMG THIS THIS THISSSS YES I LIKE THE TIM/MAEVE RIVALRY SO MUCH. AND I ALSO LOVE THAT LAST POST. Tim would make a great mentor to Amanda, and the consequential problems that arise will be interesting for the plot.
YES SLYTHERIN FOREVER. THEY'RE SO AMAZINGLY MESSED UP.

Hehe. Just thought of it. Could Joseph, Kally, and Valen be the Golden Trio, so to speak (it's ironic, because they're all from different Houses), or are there too many circles/cliques for them to be "Big Three"?

Oh I'm liking all of this stuff. DRAAAAMMMMAAA!!!! Just to let you guys know I've also been working on a pureblood slytherin. I don't have a name yet, but I'm thinking she will be a sixth year. I was also thinking she would be the kind of girl who in the slytherin hierarchy would go out and do all the sort of physical actual threatening and blackmailing of people. But you guys have all this stuff here and iono if Maeve's sort of thing, so iono…
Any Ideas?

Aw, sorry...I guess we could have another Pureblood Slytherin, but I think we should focus on the other Houses now. Hufflepuff is lacking.
