Name etymology: Aeriston means “the best” and Sophos means “wise”. Atticus is his grandfather’s name.

Other Relatives: Atticus and Helena Sophos are his paternal grandparents. Atticus was the captain of his own ship and Helena, his "high-school sweetheart" was a magical painter before she retired. After her husband's death, she moved in with her son and his wife. Aeriston visits them in Athens frequently.

Important Memories: Aeriston saw his grandfather die in the hospital. When he and his crew were out in the Mediterranean Sea, he encountered a feral lamia who clawed at him, and he eventually died from the blood loss.

Backstory:
His family is a Greek Pureblood family and thus, impartial in the Second Wizarding War, unlike the first one, because Grindelwald had a much larger dominion. They stayed safely out of harm’s way, and even if they were in England at the time of the conflict, they most likely would have tried to maintain their neutrality.
The Sophos’ still reside in Athens (It is only Aeriston who moved permanently after school, and he commutes for the holidays) and simply don’t care about being part of the elite ‘inner circle’; they are content with their lives. They are not fabulously wealthy nor poor by any means. Aeriston’s parents keep humble, out-of-the-public-eye jobs, and try to be unnoticed much like their son. In fact, Aeriston, when he was at Hogwart’s, wasn’t popular or ever Prefect or Head Boy, though he could have been if he tried (He’s kind of an Adonis and was one of the kinder, less snooty Ravenclaws).
After graduating in 2029, Aeriston had a gap year because of his grandfather's death. Then he took a dry Ministry job to support his education on the side; he was studying to get his Transfiguration and Alchemy Masteries. In the RP, it is his fifth year teaching at Hogwart’s, and he is well-liked and respected by his colleagues and students.
