My parents shouts forced me out of the kitchen. All they ever do now is fight about anything and everything. They're stupid like that.
I sit down with my store brand cereal and flip on the T.V. The cartoons drown out the fighting for a while. But even spongebob can't mask the screams. The T.V. switches to commercials so I look around the room.
Family pictures hang on the wall. Pictures of their wedding, my birth, picnics, and birthdays line the room. We all look so happy. I think we should just play pretend and act like the people in the pictures. Then maybe the fighting would stop.
“Cheerios,” the T.V. says. I want real cheerios, not this wannabe cereal.
The family in the add is happy, I guess they really like cheerios. Maybe if we ate breakfast together like that it wouldn't be so bad.
I sit and make up stories for the people in the commercial. The dad works all day in an office, but he's never out past dinner. The mom stays at home and always plays with the kids. The oldest girl has the best clothes, and a ton of friends. The younger girl is the smartest girl in her grade, and never causes problems. The boy is good at sports and always has time to spend with everyone.
I wish I had cheerios.
