DAEDARUS CAIN
Daedarus Hadrian Cain is a male Dark Harbinger born near the outpost of Canton on March 15th, 1894. His prophetic title is Storm Weaver and to the Fae he is known as the Sorcerer King. He has functioned under multiple aliases, the most widely known being Hadrian Crane. During his time as First Minister he is referred to simply as The First. Those close to him call him Dae. Daedarus is an aromantic asexual.
THE COVER -X
Daedarus has performed a handful of rituals that have improved his initial health and strengthened his immune system. They have negated any illnesses or conditions that he may have otherwise suffered from. He had terrible eyesight as a child and could not afford glasses. His eyesight was the first thing he corrected and enhanced using Magic.
Daedarus, like many Sorcerers, has also used Magic to acquire increased speed and strength. This has rendered him capable of immense physical feats that should be beyond his capability to perform.
THE CONTENT -X
Despite his flippant, charismatic, and slightly eccentric veneer, it is a secret to no one that Daedarus is fundamentally twisted. His words, no matter how absently delivered, betray his depravity. Outwardly, Daedarus is manipulative, ruthless, and hubristic.
As Hadrian Crane, he comes off as affable and erudite. He remains passionate, but his passion is much less aggressive than Cain’s. Daedarus is surprisingly talented at acting. Even so, his mask will slip in moments of extreme rage, but these moments are rare. His identity is more often put in danger of discovery by the frequent political debates he engages in. While Daedarus may be skilled at repressing his true character, he is hopelessly inept at curbing his ideals.
Daedarus’s internal world differs greatly from his external one. He suffers from a myriad of diagnosable psychological problems, including neuroticism, an attachment disorder, obsessive–compulsive tendencies, impulse control issues, and disturbing thoughts. He lacks the ability to empathize with others. While being proficient at determining what actions or words people will choose, he has little to no understanding of why they do. Daedarus, however, is nothing if not self-aware. He knows what he is and why is the way he is, and sees no reason to change.
Daedarus often feels detached from society. He views himself as separate from other humans, floating somewhere above and away from them. As a result of this disinterest in the masses, Daedarus finds himself needing an anchor. He will subconsciously designate one person in his life as his “center”, and internalizes them as his link to humanity. Without a center, Daedarus would lose sight of his goals and his motivation. This individual grounds him, and provides him with something to view as real—someone with real feelings and a real life, who is affected by his actions and is of consequence to him. They can be friend, family, follower, or even enemy. The only requirement is that they have a strong enough character for Daedarus to lean on.
Daedarus has an undeniably brilliant mind. He is always one step ahead of his enemies, able to outwit nearly everyone with his brutal pragmatism and beloved semantic games. He is a passionate and convincing orator, and is always very vocal about his opinions. Unfortunately, his mental dexterity is often used to create especially creative forms of punishment for enemies and insubordinate followers.
Karma and similar concepts are very attractive to him. Daedarus views himself as champion of the oppressed and downtrodden Dark Magi. In spite of his borderline sociopathy, he stands firmly by his ideals and convictions. When fighting for a cause, Daedarus does so because he believes in the actual ideal itself, not because he's searching for personal gain or glory. This is not to say, however, that Daedarus is unwilling to break his own honor-code. If the situation demands it, there is almost nothing Daedarus would not do or sacrifice. One of his strengths is the ability to prioritize ruthlessly.
It is difficult to truly upset Daedarus, but when he gets angry, he gets angry. Irritating him is suicidal. His temper tantrums almost always guarantee someone's death. When one of his subordinates fails him, he merely replaces them with someone more adept. For this reason, his followers are constantly falling in and out of favor. He's adopted a sort of revolving door policy, with First Tier minions being hired and fired at will, whenever they displease him.
Daedarus has a baffling sense of humor that rears its head at the most inappropriate moments. It is a dark, dry sense of humor that usually manifests as snark.
Daedarus has the mentality of a scholar. He is constantly seeking knowledge, and is well-learned in any of the many disciplines he has taken a shining to. This is perhaps the reason why it is so easy for him to step into the shoes of “Hadrian Crane”, a former professor turned politician.
Daedarus fears abandonment and betrayal on a nearly primal level. Because of this phobia, he has developed an auxiliary fear of emotionally depending on others. Luckily for him, forming emotion bonds is not something he is inclined to do. Daedarus also fears an absence of purpose, or something to direct his passion towards. The one thing that would truly break him would be the loss of his Magic.
Daedarus’s garden is his cacoon; he finds great satisfaction in planting little things, such as seeds, and watching them grow. Having the remarkable mind that he does, Daedarus is able to keep track of countless details and to oversee grand plots, revising them whenever new circumstances arise. This talent has spilled over and into his free time as well, manifesting itself in Daedarus’s enjoyment of games, such as chess, and storytelling. He loves reading and writing both fiction and nonfiction, though he is selective when it comes to subject matter, stubbornly refusing to spend time on anything that doesn’t immediately snag his interest. Probably the bulk of Daedarus’s time is spent studying and practicing Magic.
Daedarus’s goals are to eliminate the many prejudices that exist within Elberon and to reshape its “weak and corrupt” government to his liking, and to restore the Old Ways. He desires spiritual fulfillment and change of any sort. If you were to peel back Daedarus’s numerous layers, at his center you would find a need to create and to teach.
Daedarus’s MBTI is INFJ.
THE PAGES -X
Daedarus identifies as Pagan. He has three tutelary deities: Curnunnos, Rhiannon, and Kresnik. He is of the clan Cain and is a direct descendent of Amathaon, son of Seren.
As its founder, Daedarus is loyal to The Repentance. His occupations include being the leader of The Repentance, a terrorist, and the First Minister of Elberon.
In addition to being a Dark Harbinger, Daedarus is also a Magic Sensitive. His etheric element is fire. His Magic appears bright, fiery, and forest green. It smells of pine, tastes of mint, and sounds of war drums. Daedarus’s primary focus is his mind, while his secondary foci are gestures and runes. He is substandard in the art of Scrying, being naturally uninclined towards Divination. His Scrying mediums are blood and tarot cards.

I've had this bio sitting on my computer for a while. I'll be posting Elie and Tamlynn's bios soon, as well as some other characters' who I've already posted pictures of.
That reference sheet for Daedarus is his final design. I felt like he needed some consistency in my artwork. It took me forever to get his face, but I'm really proud of how it turned out.
Try to ignore that 13 year old Dae looks like Zuko. I decided that in traditional Magi culture they all wear boot pants (even when not wearing boots), which are slacks tailored to hug the legs below the knees so that boots fit easily over them. I think pirates wore them, actually. Anyway, it ended up giving Magi clothing a bit of an oriental look, and that plus the warm colors and ponytail...Prince Zuko!
Also, I got rid of Dae's epaulettes and replaced them with functional armor.
In other news, I actually attempted to psychoanalyze him. I still feel like I've barely scratched the surface of his twisted mind. Ah, well.
